Davidoff Swiss Indoors Basel - World's best tennis

 

The Davidoff Swiss Indoors tournament, taking place every year in October at the St. Jakobshalle in Basel, is the largest national sport event and the world's third-largest indoor tournament. More than 70,000 spectators are set to follow the games live, creating a centre-court atmosphere that is unique to Basel.  

 

For Roger Federer the Basel tournament is a home game. In 2009 the number 1 will try to establish another record in his home town: after three titles in a row in Basel he has the chance to win the traditional tournament as a professional for the fourth time. Three titles in a row have been won by Stefan Edberg.   

 

The Davidoff Swiss Indoors does good, also besides the tennis court. With the net profit of the events of the Business Club, members of which are sponsors as well as people from the political and cultural network of the tournament, each year another social institution is supported. In 2006 it was Karlheinz Böhm's foundation "Menschen für Menschen" and in 2007 and 2008 the network for children "United Kids Foundations" of the umbrella organization of "Cleven Becker foundation" and "Power-Child" of Veronica Ferres.
